CrystalSmith
is a lifelong resident of Ohio, a graduate Ohio Media School, a wife, a mother, and an entrepreneur, and a City Council Woman. She’s passionate about economic development, youth empowerment, and serving the individuals in Stark Youth Technology Center (SYTCO)’s care, as well as people in the greater community.

in Ohio's healthcare and foster care sector. With over a decade of experience in childcare, and seven years in the developmental disabilities field, Crystal established this agency to provide dedicated services to Stark County and neighboring regions, including Akron, Youngstown, Columbus, Wooster, and New Philadelphia. The agency's core mission revolves around empowering individuals with developmental disabilities and foster children, aged 14 and above, to create lives full of independence and purpose.

CRYSTAL'S JOURNEY INTO PUBLIC SERVICE WAS INSPIRED BY HER DEEP LOVE
for her city and her desire to contribute to its growth and prosperity. As a mother, she understands the importance of creating a safe, vibrant, collaborative, and inclusive environment, for families to thrive. As a business owner, she brings valuable insights into economic development and entrepreneurship, recognizing the pivotal role that small businesses play in driving local economies.
In addition to serving on Council and running a business, Crystal sits on the Advisory Board of She Elevates, whose mission is to help girls, aged 8 to 14, envision and equip themselves as entrepreneurs. She’s also assisted several other local entrepreneurs in securing seed funding and other resources for their businesses. Finally, Crystal is a proud member of the Democratic Women’s Club. Through her role as City Councilwoman, Crystal plans to champion opportunities to improve public infrastructure, enhance educational opportunities, and promote sustainable urban development. She will do her best to be a vocal advocate for policies that support working families, promote diversity and inclusion, and foster a sense of community pride.
